Counsellors Conference 2024 Workshop Leaders
Angie Dulwich is an Integrative Creative Counsellor and been qualified for 21 years. She is a supervisor and EMDR Therapist and strongly believes in building relationships and empowering others. She has also created and delivers training on working with emotions using the Inside Out characters.
Angie Petrie is regularly refenced as the ‘stone lady’!, and loves any way of working creatively. With a diploma in Integrative Counselling and a Level 5 certificate in Creative intervention in counselling, Angie recently completed a diploma in supervision. She is a registered member of the ACC and has been working within the caring profession for 30 years.
Cara Cramp is a Child and Adolescent Therapist, specialising in Creative Arts Therapy. She has more than 25 years’ experience working with children and young people and is qualified in Creative Arts Therapy to Master’s Degree level. She has a particular interest in trauma and Attachment issues.
Caroline Peacock is an experienced Play and Creative Arts Therapist and supervisor with a compassionate, integrative, person-centred approach. Caroline has a Masters in Leadership in Schools Mental Health and Wellbeing with a passion for the mental health of educational staff.
Dr Chris practised as a medical doctor in the fields of Anaesthetics, General Practice, Adult and Child Psychiatry. He has now retired from being a doctor but continues his private practice as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, supervisor, trainer, and life coach. He believes psychoeducation is of vital importance in helping clients understand their own processes and being empowered in their healing journey.
Hannah Lamont-Lawal is an integrative counsellor and holds a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a BA in Music and a PGCE in Secondary Education (Music). She has a passion for Music, community and wellbeing. She is an experienced choir leader, and teaches singing and piano alongside running her private practice in Essex. Hannah is also a regular Q&A host on Deep Release training days.
Hazel Barton has a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, a Diploma in Supervision, and is accredited with the Association of Christian Counsellors. She is also a spiritual director. She has been integrating Deep Release into her practice since 2004 and is an experienced trainer with Deep Release and previously Barnabas Counselling Training.
Jo Temple is an accredited counsellor working with adults. Her background as a fitness instructor led her to a body based, holistic approach to healing incorporating mindfulness and movement into the counselling room.
Katy Bodman is research and development director at Deep Release and is also a Q&A host on Deep Release training days. She has a BSc in Integrative Counselling and is passionately person-centred in her approach. She has recently developed a set of empathy cards for counsellors called ‘Hard Feelings’.
Lesley O’Connor is an integrative counsellor working with couples and individuals. She began her counselling journey managing a weight management franchise, where she facilitated group work using counselling tools and quickly realised that clients experienced greater change when they developed understanding, awareness and increased self-worth.
Morag Barker holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Counselling & Theology, and a Level 5 Certificate in Integrating Creative Interventions in Counselling. A trained Deep Release counsellor, she frequently hosts Q&A sessions on our training days. Morag has her own private practice in Walthamstow, East London.
Nicola Symes is an accredited counsellor and works in private practice. She specialises in grief and loss, offering training workshops to counsellors, pastoral workers, and volunteers. Nicola began counselling in 1995 as a bereavement counsellor while working as a palliative care nurse in a hospice.
Pauline Andrew is an accredited counsellor (MA) and supervisor (Dip) and director of Deep Release. As well as teaching the widely acclaimed online training programme for Deep Release, Pauline teaches regularly for both the Association of Christian in Counselling and Linked Professions national conferences, and the BACP. Pauline is also an author and creator of a range of creative resources for counsellors.
Sally Nash is an accredited counsellor and supervisor in private practice. She holds a Level 5 Certificate in Integrating Creative Interventions, is a qualified Parks Inner Child Therapist, and is an experienced Deep Release counsellor and group leader.

Meet the Deep Release team!

Pauline Andrew
Pauline is an accredited counsellor (MA) and supervisor (Dip) as well as a director of Deep Release. She is also managing director of Barnabas Counselling Training, where she teaches the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and the Level 5 Diploma in Supervision. She has also written and teaches the Level 5 Certificate in Integrating Creative Interventions in Counselling.
Pauline has written a number of books, including “A Creative Guide to Working with the Inner Child” and “A Creative Guide to Working with Blocked Anger” (available from Amazon and the PACT Ltd website). Her cartoon illustrated “Roles Played in Families”, “Core Needs in Families” and “Roles Played in Anger” cards are hugely popular around the UK and in several other countries. Her creativity (given new energy by Covid-19 and the need to go online) has also produced the popular Therapeutic Sandscapes and Blocked Anger online tools.
A highly experienced and popular trainer, Pauline teaches regularly at the annual conference of the Association of Christian counsellors and also trains for BACP on their Professional Development Days, where her sell-out creative workshops have been held around the UK both face to face and now online.
Pauline’s first degree was in modern languages and she studied at the universities of Bristol and Vienna. She has previously been a translator, an IT Trainer, a Tour Operator, a Marketing Manager and Conference Administrator. Chris and Pauline were married in 1984 and share three children and five grandchildren.

Dr Chris Andrew
Director Chris trained as a medical doctor and practised in the fields of Anaesthetics, General Practice and Adult and Child Psychiatry before setting up a private practice in London in 1984. As a committed Christian he sought to combine his medical and psychological understanding with spiritual insight.
His research brought him into contact with Dr Frank Lake and his interest in pre-and perinatal trauma. In 1994, Chris and Pauline developed Deep Release which adopts an integrative approach to working with early trauma.
He came back into the NHS as a Consultant Medical Psychotherapist for six years up till 2011. He is now retired and continues to enjoy teaching a wide variety of subjects, sharing many ideas on his YouTube channel, “Brain, Body and Beyond”. His Integrative Cyclical Dynamic Model is an attempt to integrate the many diverse approaches to counselling and psychotherapy, showing how they each address particular aspects of the body, brain, mind, will and spirit, and can be mapped onto a model of the brain. He believes psychoeducation to be of vital importance in helping clients to understand their own processes and be empowered in their healing journey.
Chris continues his private practice as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Supervisor, Trainer and Life Coach. He is also a Director of Barnabas Counselling Training where he teaches specialist modules on the Diploma course.
He and Pauline live in Essex and share three grown up children and five grandchildren.

Katy Bodman
Katy is research and development director and is also a Q&A host on Deep Release training days. She has a degree in counselling and has previously worked as a journalist. Katy is mum to two children and greyhounds Sean and Missy. She enjoys coffee, documentaries, plant-based cooking and is fascinated with all things 1920s!

Jeremy Acott
Technical consultant Jeremy is a Web Designer, Film Maker, Graphic Design and Communications specialist. He provides the technical expertise for our online training days, and works with the Deep Release team to develop our YouTube channel and the website.
Jeremy lives in East London and has one daughter. His interests include playing guitar, watching films and geeky stuff!

Morag Barker
Morag Barker has a Diploma in Counselling & Theology and a L5 Certificate in Integrating Creative Interventions in Counselling. She is a trained Deep Release therapist and you will you will often see her pop up on our training days as a Q&A host. She has her own private practice based in Walthamstow, East London. Morag and her husband have three growing daughters who inspire her to be brave, try new things and enjoy life! She has recently started playing hockey again, enjoys swimming regularly and is enrolled on an MA in Counselling & Psychotherapy.

Julie Allday
Julie is our finance administrator. She originally trained in modern languages and started out in the charities sector. She has also worked as the Administrator for Barnabas Counselling Training since 2006. She lives in West Sussex with her husband and has one grown-up daughter.
The Deep Release Trustees
Sally Nash, Hazel Barton, Debbie Waldron and Liz Strain are Trustees of the Deep Release Bursary Fund (Registered No. 1112125), and they also serve as a Council of Reference for Deep Release. They meet three times a year with Dr Chris and Pauline Andrew, and Katy Bodman, our research and development director, when we discuss our work and plan for the future.

Liz Strain
Liz Strain is Coordinator of the Hampshire and Wiltshire Regional Training Group. She is a trained Deep Release therapist, with an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy. Liz is registered with UKCP and is a counsellor, supervisor and Spiritual Director. She has a real interest in the creative and the arts in spirituality.
Liz has three grown-up sons and enjoys cooking, eating and walking!

Debbie Waldron
Debbie is an ACC Accredited Counsellor, has a Diploma in Christian Counselling and is a Supervisor, as well as Deep Release Counsellor. She also has an MA in Christian Spirituality. Debbie has been practising since 2002 and also provides training. The emphasis of her work is the creative, attachment, inner-child and trauma.
Debbie has been married for 24 years, has 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Her interests include walking, tennis (generally being outside!) and also cinema and reading.

Sally Nash
Sally holds a Diploma in Counselling and a Diploma in Supervision and is accredited and registered with the Association of Christian Counsellors. She also has a Level 5 Certificate in Integrating Creative Interventions for Counsellors, and is a qualified Parks Inner Child Therapist. Experienced in the full range of Deep Release interventions, Sally works in private practice and regularly attends the Surrey Regional Training Group; she is also a Deep Release Trustee.
Married with three adult sons, she enjoys reading, walking and quiet evenings sat on a beach or by a fire.
