The Deep Release Counsellors Together Weekend

A weekend of practical exploration, creative reflection and thoughtful conversation about the work we do.
Together we’ll make space to be curious, playful and reflective – supporting both ourselves and the clients we work with.
This is still our annual conference, but this year we’re approaching it a bit differently!
Across the weekend, through a variety of workshops, we’ll explore four spaces that are essential to our work – creativity, staying steady, refining our skills, and being human in the sticky bits.
Taken together, these offer a way to engage with key areas of our work and give ourselves a personal and professional MOT – with gentleness, compassion, humour, hope and community.
The weekend takes place in a lovely village setting with riverside walks nearby. There will be time to relax, enjoy the surroundings and connect with others – whether over a coffee or drink in the lounge bar or on a peaceful walk by the river.
What you’ll take away
Over the course of the weekend you can expect to gain:
- Fresh insight into your own practice
- Creative tools and ideas you can use with clients
- Space to reflect on your wellbeing and sustainability in the work
- Encouragement and connection with other counsellors
- Thoughtful exploration of some of the trickier parts of practice
- Renewed steadiness, curiosity and hope
The Four Spaces
1. Creativity – Seeing with Fresh Eyes
A space for creative exploration, approaching familiar themes from a different angle and allowing room for experimentation. Not everything needs to be polished, and we want to offer a safe space to try a range of creative tools. Sometimes we learn most when we’re willing to play.
2. Staying Steady – Keeping the Flame Alive
An honest reflection on sustaining ourselves in the work — capacity, boundaries, our own rhythms and what helps us remain in practice over time.
We’ll also consider the realities of practice: burnout, what drains us, the long stretches of therapy where little seems to change, and the subtle ways we can begin to erase ourselves in the work.
There will be space to share honestly and encourage one another as we explore these themes gently and creatively.
3. Skills – Fine Tuning What We Do
Here we’ll look at how we can creatively enhance the relational and practical skills that deepen good therapeutic work.
Within this space we will also come together for a Nesting Dolls session, using this image to explore the different layers within ourselves and within the clients we work with, and how these shape the work we do together.
4. Being Human – Staying With the Sticky Bits
This is the space for what doesn’t resolve neatly — the client issues that linger and the tensions that don’t quite tidy themselves up.
Here we’ll practise staying present with complexity, noticing what is stirred in us, and exploring these moments together without pressure to perform or produce quick answers. Creativity will help us reflect on these experiences together.
We’d love you to join us.
