Running on Empty: Supporting Clients through Burnout with Katy Bodman

Research tells us that Burnout is increasingly present in life, not simply as exhaustion, but as a deeper signal that something in a person’s way of living, relating, or being has become unsustainable. Clients often arrive feeling depleted, overwhelmed, and disconnected – not only from their energy, but from a sense of meaning, direction, or self. This course invites us to move beyond surface-level symptom management and to understand burnout as a meaningful response to prolonged pressure, misalignment, and unmet needs.
Through a client-centred lens, we will explore how burnout can be listened to rather than “fixed,” helping clients to reconnect with their values, limits, and sense of self. In this training we will look at helping support clients to make sense of their experience, and it’s also an opportunity to reflect for ourselves too where our own alive, vibrant true self may have become sidelined.
